Praying God’s Word Wednesday #14

July 7, 2021 by Lauren 14 Comments

Today is Tell the Truth Day.  I’m not proclaiming it.  It’s an actual calendar thing.  And I couldn’t not address it here.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.  1 John 3:18 NIV

Our culture views truth as subjective.  In actuality, it is anything but.  Jesus tells us that He is the truth (John 14:6).  Therefore, anything that stands in opposition to God or His Word can never be truth.  Regardless of how it feels or what opinions we hold.  And love, contrary to popular belief, does not mean we agree with and support every action or determination of another person.  Truth – the truth of the Bible – must be included in the way we love.  If we celebrate sin in ourselves or others, that is not love.

So today I pray:

Praying for you in this.  And don’t forget to share this on social media or with a friend who could benefit.  It would mean so much to me.  And if you don’t want to miss a Praying God’s Word Wednesday, subscribe over on the right hand side of this page.

Lauren

Odd that there’s a Tell the Truth Day–when we should do that every day. Love what you said about love not meaning we never disagree or speak out.

How perceptive of you, Barbara. That should have been my first thought!

May we always speak the truth in love, and listen carefully when other speak truth to us. What a great prayer you’ve shared.

Oh, the listening when others speak truth to us is a great addition to this prayer. Thanks, Kym.

This is so true, Lauren, “The truth of the Bible – must be included in the way we love.”

Such an interesting day Lauren! And yet shouldn’t that be the norm rather then the exception… Very thought provoking indeed. 🤔
Maybe it’s to highlight truth & bring attention to it in the wider community.
    Bless you,
    Jennifer

Wow, Jennifer. I have to admit that I never even thought about the irony that tell the truth day should be every day! You are on it!

Amen to that, Lauren! Why is truth such a difficult thing for so many? Nothing good ever comes from lies. Whether we lie to others or to ourselves, the outcome is always bad. Thanks for sharing and linking with me.

About Me

I love Jesus, my husband and caffeine. The order of these can change depending on how tired I am. When my two daughters, stepson, and 4 grandchildren get to be too much, I practice yoga. God graciously allows me to share our adventures, victories and flub-ups from my laptop. May He be glorified here.
