Today is National Look Alike Day. And it’s also National Multiple Birth Awareness Month. So what better day to offer a prayer for my sisters? I have two great ones – one who is a look alike (#twinning) and another who is creatively unique. I feel so blessed to have them both in my life.
In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he speaks (actually writes) to his brothers and sisters in Christ. He loved other people – both fellow believers and non-believers – so much that I feel sure his devotion equalled what I feel for my blood sisters. This passage is filled with endearing names and sentiments. The depth of his love was, no doubt, one of the keys to his effectiveness in the ministry of the Lord. There is so much we can learn from Paul in how to love and encourage others well.
“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!”
Philippians 4:1 NIV
Warning: This could get a little mushy. Like Paul, I long to be with my sisters every chance I get. We all live in the same metropolitan area but stay so busy that we don’t see each other nearly as often as I’d like. But when we do get together, they bring me so much joy. There is nothing like a comfortable hang with the people who know you the best. I am so proud to call them my people. So here is my prayer for my sisters.
Replace the pronouns with the appropriate ones for the person (or yourself) that you are praying for.
Praying for you in this. And don’t forget to share on social media or with a friend who could benefit. It would mean so much to me. And if you don’t want to miss a Praying God’s Word Wednesday, subscribe over on the right hand side of this page.

Ahhh, Lauren. This is perfect. My two sisters and I are very close in age, so when we were young, there were lots of fights. But now . . . I’m so thankful for them and that they are my people. I so appreciate the prayer you shared here!
Lauren says
I know what you mean about fights when we were younger! Thanks for praying with me, Jeanne.

Great post! I have one sister, and she has always been a huge presence in my life. Although we live many miles apart, we can easily talk on the phone for an hour or more several times a week. A sister is such a blessing!
