Labor Day ala Elmo

As with Sesame Street, (which my daughter Shelby still ADORES) this Labor Day weekend is brought to you by the letter F.

We enjoyed Football.  Sic ‘Em Bears!  And that’s all I’ll say about that to keep from alienating any of my reader friends.  We ate too much Food.  *Sigh*  Oh well.  I’ll work on that this week.  We spent time with Family.  We somehow managed to squeeze in a visit to my PawPaw in Eddy, dinner with my step-son Chandler and his wife and kids, and dinner and game night with my brother-in-love and his family.  We grew our Faith and saw our Friends at 121 Community Church.  Unless we are out of town, we don’t miss a worship service.  And I want to invite you to come with us if you don’t have a regular church home on Sundays.  We had some Fun and worked on our Fitness by swimming and playing with the kids in the pool at the REC center.  When you put it all together, it made for a pretty Fabulous 3-day weekend.  I couldn’t ask for much better and thinking about it makes me feel as warm inside as the Texas temperature is outside.

Of all the F‘s I mentioned, I believe Faith is the most important.  That will come as no suprise to you if you have ever read my blog before.  But I believe Friends and Family tie for a not-too-distant second.  God created us for community.  We naturally crave intimacy with others.  Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourageing one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  Through Fellowship with one another, we help meet needs, we pray for each other (because we know what to pray for), and we learn from each other.  Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”  We make each other better.  I’m convinced that it does take a village, even if your village has an idiot.  I often feel the idiot is me, but the more time I spend with other believers, the better I’ll be!  So I find, most days, that I even prefer my Football, my Food, my Fun, my Faith and my Fitness to come with a side of Family and Friends.

About Me

I love Jesus, my husband and caffeine. The order of these can change depending on how tired I am. When my two daughters, stepson, and 4 grandchildren get to be too much, I practice yoga. God graciously allows me to share our adventures, victories and flub-ups from my laptop. May He be glorified here.
