During this time of Lent/ coronavirus isolation, I have been spending extra time in God’s Word. I honestly can’t tell you if it’s the extra time at home or Easter preparation behind it, but I am thankful none the less. As a Bible Gateway partner I received the opportunity to review a new Artisan Collection Bible and knew this was the perfect time. I chose the NRSV version because I don’t currently own a copy and waited with bated breath for it to arrive in the mail. (What else do I have to do? Actually that is a joke. I have been filling my socially distant time with all the things I haven’t had time to do while working – to the point of exhaustion and stress. Pray for me. My inability to relax is definitely a condition.)
I am so delighted with this beautiful version of God’s Word. The stunning cover art work and golden gilt edged pages feel luxurious. As does the patented Zondervan NRSV Comfort Print typeface for these aging eyes. The lightly ruled, wide margins are perfect for journaling, reflecting, taking notes and creating unique, inspired art. I, personally, have trouble making stick figures look good. But maybe you are more creatively blessed.
You should Easter treat yo’ self to this gorgeous Bible or another in the series. Easter is not canceled just because we can’t meet in a building. And maybe you have no excuse for a pretty new dress this year, but this stylish Bible could fill the void. Or gift one and start a new Easter tradition. I would be so excited to add this to my collection of Bible study materials – if my teenage daughter hadn’t claimed it the minute it left the box. I will enjoy watching her study and fill it’s margins. And since I’m starting to feel a little envy about that, I may just have to order one for myself. We can find it here.
I am so appreciative to the Bible Gateway Blogger Grid for gifting me this Artisan Collection Bible for my review. And my prayer is that you use this Bible or another of your choosing to spend time with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this Easter season. May you celebrate His return from the grave and look forward to His return to claim His throne forever!
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of the prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and who keep what is written in it;
for the time is near.

What a beautiful Bible. I love having room to write in my BIble. I am not much a BIble journaler but certainly, love when beauty is added to God’s word.
Lauren says
I wish I was an artistic journaler (is that a word?) but I appreciate the art others make!

That looks so beautiful and yes, treating myself is on my list daily. Maybe it’s my age… And I hope you get that rest you talked about! (:
Lauren says
I need to put a treat on my daily list too!

This really does sound like a lovely Bible. Another friend reviewed the Artisan Bible for young girls and journaled a couple of pages for her granddaughter. She loved it. Thanks for sharing this review! Blessings to you!
Lauren says
Have a blessed Easter, Gayl.

I love this Bible with the margins. I might have to treat myself but feel a little guilty because I have quite a few BIble’s. FYI: I have the same condition as you. I have been busier than ever. Happy Easter!
Lauren says
You can never have too many bibles!
Laurie says
I loved reading Barbara’s thoughts on answers to prayer. She made me think, and that’s a good thing!
The Artisan Collection Bible looks beautiful. I don’t have the NRSV. Adding it to my list! 🙂
Lauren says
I agree. Thanks, Laurie.
Jennifer DeFrates says
I am not familiar with that translation. I’ve got an NIV, NASB, HCSB, NiRV, ESV, but not the NRSV. What do you think of that translation?
Lauren says
I like it. I don’t think it will become my go to, but I am using it some.

My son was just asking about getting a bible after loosing his. I’ll take a look at this one.
Lauren says
If you son is asking for a new Bible, you are doing it right, mama!

What a beautiful Bible, Lauren! I still have my very first “grown-up” Bible that my best friend in 9th grade gifted to me when we joined Young Life together. I then took that Bible to college with me where it accompanied me to all of my Religious Studies classes. It is now all highlighted and underlined with notes in the margins which makes it so special to me. It is still going strong these 30 years later. I also still have my very first children’s Bible which was printed in 1970. The cover is a bit destroyed, but the words are there!

My husband recently bought me a new one because I had been using the same one (and highlighting and taking notes) since I was 18! I love the quote, though, that a Bible that is well used shows that its owner is held well together.
Shelbee on the Edge says
That quote is fabulous, Lauren! Thanks for sharing that.

What a beautiful Bible, Lauren. Our daughter received one of these for Christmas and she is enjoying journaling her way through God’s Word this year.
Thanks for hosting the linkup and for linking up at InstaEncouragements!
Lauren says
I would be even more excited about a journaling bible if I had a lick of artistic ability!
