In this Praying God’s Word Wednesday, I want to share what I have most definitely learned the last few years. I have no control. This is good, but it can feel bad. I want what I want. And I want it now. I’m guessing I’m not the only one.
It sometimes feels hopeless when things don’t go our way. We get passed over for a promotion. The car breaks down. Our children make choices we don’t approve of. The diagnosis isn’t good. Ugh.
Where is the good news? Our God sees the big picture. And He holds us in the palm of His hand. What seems bad to us, will be used for good. He promises! (Romans 8:28)
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 NIV
How does that fit with the famous words of Benjamin Franklin, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”? What’s wrong with planning for your career path? Planning for retirement? Planning a vacation? What’s so wrong with that?
Nothing. The Proverb doesn’t prohibit planning. It simply warns us about the limitations of human plans. My prayer for a loved one is this:
Replace the pronouns with the appropriate ones for the person (or yourself) that you are praying for.
Praying for you in this. And don’t forget to share on social media or with a friend who could benefit. It would mean so much to me. And if you don’t want to miss a Praying God’s Word Wednesday, subscribe over on the right hand side of this page.
