Praying God’s Word Wednesday #21

August 25, 2021 by Lauren 6 Comments

The wisdom of God fills my thoughts lately – especially in contrast to the foolishness we see in the world on a daily basis.  My deepest desire is for myself and my loved ones to walk in God’s wisdom daily.  Or better yet, minutely!  (#notarealword)

Today’s prayer comes from Proverbs Chapter 8, which has been described as Wisdom Personified.

Wisdom is the person of Jesus Christ.  There is no other knowledge or moral code above Him.  True wisdom can only come from Him.

When we seek Him, we find her.  (Proverbs refers to wisdom as “she”.)

For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.  But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.  Proverbs 8:35-36 NIV

Prayer:

Replace the pronouns with the appropriate ones for the person (or yourself) that you are praying for.

Praying for you in this.  And don’t forget to share this on social media or with a friend who could benefit.  It would mean so much to me.  And if you don’t want to miss a Praying God’s Word Wednesday, subscribe over on the right hand side of this page.

Life Lessons from a Bicycle

May 2, 2019 by Lauren 16 Comments

I read something recently stating that our pre-frontal cortex, the part of the brain that most affects reasoning and decision making, is not fully formed and developed until a person turns 30.  This shocks me – a little.  We can conceive and birth children, serve in the military, drink alcohol, rent a car and even operate on someone (if you have a medical degree) before that age.  And yet, when I look at my own life, I know deep down that it’s true.

I’ve now passed the 15th anniversary of my 30th birthday and whether or not my decisions are wise, is frankly, a crap shoot.

I do my best.  I pray.  Seek God’s will.  Ask for good counsel.  But wisdom is still an elusive mistress.  My friend and fellow writer Meg Weyerbacher graciously loaned me some space on her blog recently to explore this topic further.  I would love it if you would join me now over in her neck of the woods to read more about how God used a bicycle to turn my attention to making wise decisions.  And don’t forget to show Meg some comment love for being sweet enough to host me!

About Me

I love Jesus, my husband and caffeine. The order of these can change depending on how tired I am. When my two daughters, stepson, and 4 grandchildren get to be too much, I practice yoga. God graciously allows me to share our adventures, victories and flub-ups from my laptop. May He be glorified here.
